Japan rout Tunisia 4-0 to open Group F campaign at Estadio BBVA.
Kamada opened the scoring inside four minutes, finishing from a Keito Nakamura assist, and Japan were firmly in control before the half-hour mark when Ueda doubled the lead with Ko Itakura providing. Tunisia made two half-time substitutions but could not find a way through: they managed only two shots across the entire match, none on target, against Japan's five shots on target from eleven attempts. Junya Ito made it three in the 69th minute, turning in an Ueda assist, and Ueda added a fourth of his own in the 83rd — his second of the match — assisted by Sano before being withdrawn a minute later.
Japan take three points from their Group F opener and move to the top of the group on goal difference with a +4 swing on the day. Tunisia remain on zero points after a performance that produced an xG of just 0.05. Japan's xG of 2.07 against a final tally of four goals reflects the efficiency of their finishing. Both sides continue their group-stage schedules with upcoming fixtures still to be played.
