Uruguay left it late at Hard Rock Stadium, with M. Araujo leveling in the 80th minute to cancel out A. Al Amri's 41st-minute opener for Saudi Arabia. Al Amri had given the hosts a half-time lead with a goal three minutes before the break, then picked up a yellow card just before the whistle. Uruguay dominated possession at 65 percent and generated 24 shots — nine on target — but could not find the equalizer until Araujo's late strike. Saudi Arabia held firm for much of the second half despite Uruguay's pressure, finishing with just seven shots of their own.

The draw leaves both Saudi Arabia and Uruguay with one point apiece in Group H of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Uruguay had made changes at half-time, with D. Nunez and M. Vina withdrawn for A. Canobbio and J. Sanabria, and M. Araujo — who scored the equalizer — was himself replaced immediately after his goal by B. Rodriguez at the 81st minute. Both sides still have matches remaining in the group stage.
