Haaland's second-half brace lifts Norway past Senegal 3-2 at MetLife Stadium.
Norway survive a late scare to claim three points in Group I, with E. Haaland's brace proving the decisive contribution. M. Pedersen opened the scoring in the 43rd minute before Haaland doubled the lead just three minutes into the second half, assisted by M. Odegaard. I. Sarr pulled one back for Senegal in the 53rd minute, but Haaland restored Norway's two-goal cushion at 58 minutes with an assist from P. Berg. Sarr struck again deep in stoppage time — 90+3 — assisted by N. Jackson — to make it 3-2, but Norway held on for the win despite Senegal's late pressure.
The result moves Norway to three points in Group I. Senegal, who held 57 percent possession and managed 14 shots to Norway's 13, finish the match without a point despite the late consolation. Norway's more clinical finishing told the story: seven shots on target to Senegal's four, and an xG of 2.1 against 1.2. Both sides made multiple second-half substitutions as the match opened up, and Senegal's push for an equalizer in the closing minutes fell just short.
