Brobbey's brace and Gakpo's double send Netherlands past Sweden 5-1 in Group F.

Netherlands overwhelmed Sweden at NRG Stadium with a dominant 5-1 victory in Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Brobbey struck twice in the opening 17 minutes — assisted by Gakpo in the 5th and Dumfries in the 17th — to put the match beyond reach before halftime. Gakpo then added two more in quick succession, converting in the 47th and 54th minutes, both assisted by Dumfries and Summerville respectively. Elanga pulled one back for Sweden in the 59th minute, assisted by Isak, but Summerville completed the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute, assisted by Depay, to seal a commanding result.

The victory puts Netherlands in a strong position early in Group F. Netherlands finished with an xG of 2.47 against Sweden's 0.94, converting efficiently from 7 shots on target. Sweden, also with 7 shots on target but from 15 attempts overall, could not translate their volume into the goals needed. The result also leaves Sweden needing a significant turnaround in their remaining group fixtures.
