Algeria came from behind to beat Jordan 2-1 in Group J of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Jordan took the lead in the 36th minute through N. Al Rashdan, assisted by M. Tamari, and held it into the second half. Algeria levelled in the 69th minute when substitute N. Benbouali finished with an assist from R. Mahrez, and took the lead for good when A. Gouiri scored in the 82nd minute to complete the turnaround. Algeria controlled the contest throughout, finishing with 72 percent possession, 17 shots, and eight on target against Jordan's eight shots and four on target.

The win gives Algeria three points in Group J. Jordan, who had held the lead for the majority of the match with an xG of just 0.65 against Algeria's 1.81, leave with nothing. Algeria's two second-half goals both came from substitutes introduced at halftime — Benbouali and the move that brought on Hadj Moussa for Mahrez at 76 minutes setting up the closing stages. Jordan made five substitutions in the final quarter-hour but could not find an equaliser.
