3 goals, 1 lead change · final
Mexico's three second-half goals sink Czechia 3-0 at Estadio Azteca.
M. Chavez Garcia opened the scoring in the 55th minute, assisted by L. Romo, and J. Quinones doubled the lead just six minutes later with J. Sanchez providing the assist. Czechia had the majority of possession and attempted 12 shots to Mexico's nine, but managed only one shot on target against three for Mexico — an xG of 0.46 against 1.6 told the story of a side that could not convert pressure into genuine danger. A. Fidalgo sealed the result in the fourth minute of stoppage time, finishing off an assist from R. Alvarado to complete a comfortable 3-0 victory for Mexico.
The result moves Mexico through in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a commanding win. Czechia, despite controlling 51 percent of possession and winning five corners to Mexico's one, could not find a way through, and the scoreline reflected the clinical efficiency Mexico showed with limited opportunities. The substitutions made by both sides after the hour mark — including Schick and Soucek entering for Czechia — did not alter the outcome.
