4 goals, 3 lead changes · final
Czech Republic see off Guatemala 3-1 with two second-half goals at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
P. Schick opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing with an assist from P. Sulc, to give Czech Republic an early lead. Guatemala levelled before the break when W. Fajardo converted in the 40th minute, assisted by D. Mendez, leaving the sides level at half-time. Czech Republic retook control after a sweeping round of substitutions at the interval. T. Chory, introduced at the break, struck in the 72nd minute — assisted by D. Doudera — to restore the lead, and D. Visinsky added a third seven minutes later to settle the result at 3-1.
As an international friendly, the result carries no standings implications. Czech Republic did win the match despite falling level at half-time, finishing strongly after rotating heavily through their squad with ten substitutions across the game. Guatemala's best moment came through Fajardo's equaliser, but both Fajardo and D. Mendez — who provided the assist — were withdrawn at the hour mark before the home side pulled clear.
Czech Republic made six changes simultaneously at the start of the second half and a further six by the 62nd minute, giving nearly their entire available squad playing time. T. Chory and D. Visinsky, both introduced in that second wave, combined to score the two goals that decided the match.
