J. David hat-trick powers Canada to emphatic 6-0 Group B victory over Qatar.
J. David was the dominant force at BC Place, scoring three times as Canada opened Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 6-0 rout of Qatar. Larin put Canada ahead in the 16th minute, and David doubled the lead in the 29th before adding a second just before half-time in the third minute of stoppage time. Qatar's evening deteriorated sharply when H. Al Amin was sent off in the 33rd minute, and a second red card followed for A. O. Madibo in the 53rd. N. Saliba added Canada's fourth in the 64th minute, M. Al Mannai contributed an own goal in the 75th, and David completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute, assisted by Saliba.
The result gives Canada three points and a commanding goal difference at the top of Group B after matchday one. Qatar, reduced to nine men for the final half-hour, finished with two shots and none on target against Canada's 29. David's three goals and Saliba's goal-and-assist were the standout individual contributions on a night when Canada controlled possession for 78 percent of the match. Qatar face an immediate mountain to climb in their remaining group fixtures.
